The Planetarium |
A museum of nature, agriculture and knowledge of the Kinnerot Valley named after A.D. Gordon. Bet Gordon is the first museum of the working settlements (established 1935) and among the first museums of nature in the whole country. Ya’akov Palmoni, a Degania ‘A’ member, initiated the establishment of the house and was its director for decades. The aim of the museum is to increase knowledge in the fields of nature, agriculture and knowledge of the country, with an emphasis on the Kinnerot Valley. In the nature wing there is a rich and varied exhibit of wildlife: birds, reptiles, mammals, “flukes” of nature and more; plants: a herbarium of wild and cultivated plant life of the country as well as: fossils, minerals and earth samples. The department of the history of the Kinnerot Valley brings the history of settlement in the Kinnerot Valley from a million years ago to the present day. In the exhibit: Agricultural and fishing implements, religious items, household implements, weapons, adornments, coins and more. The Gordon corner exhibits A.D. Gordon’s letters and personal belongings . More in the museum: a cinema, an archive and a library rich in the topics presented in the museum. The reservoir of information is available for reference.
